This is the first Mustang SSP I've ever owned and it is indeed unlike any other Mustang I've ever owned. It is 1 of 204 Mustang SSP's ordered by the Texas Department of Public Safety (Highway Patrol) in 1990, making it rare. As to how many of them aren't crushed or turned into race cars, that I don't know, but one of only few restored (or being restored). For more statistics and pictures of TX DPS Mustang SSP's and others used by various states and agencies, please click here (link: http://www.sspmustang.org/gallery2.htm). As of right now, I added the following:
Some customizations were made to make this SSP legal on the street. None of the "Not In Service" signs are in the pictures, but are used every trip, short or long. All equipment is deactivated to make it legal to drive. Rear lights are always covered. Front lights are either covered or removed (depends on distance driven). If you would like to follow the restoration of my TX DPS, please click here to visit my page on projectSSP.com! Look forward to more updates, pictures and videos soon! The next few pictures were taken on a dreary day, so it really doesn't show it off well. Better pictures will be taken once the weather cooperates! I didn't have a chance to vacuum it either between periods of rain! ![]() ![]() ![]() This is what the SSP looked like after I purchased it... ![]() |
